In person, once, in about a minute. One of you taps Create our pair and shows a QR code; the other taps Join my partner and scans it, then shows a confirmation QR back. After that handshake your phones are linked — no account, no invite emails, nothing to remember.

You're never locked out by a dead battery. Your partner's app has a Key tab showing a live 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Ask them to read it to you (or peek at their phone together), choose Enter code instead, and type it in — that unlocks just like an approval. If a correct-looking code is rejected, check that both phones set their time automatically; and after 5 wrong attempts the code entry pauses for 5 minutes.

Dovvi Plus is a regular App Store subscription, so Apple manages it: open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Dovvi and cancel there any time (or from the Dovvi settings screen, which takes you to the same place). One subscription covers both of you — if either partner has Plus, you both do. Blocking up to 3 apps stays free forever either way.

In the app: Settings → Unpair. After you confirm, Dovvi removes the pair code and shared secret, clears every block, and stops syncing. Your partner's app will notice the pair is gone the next time it checks in. Pairing again later is the same one-minute QR handshake.

Blocking on that phone stops — and the other phone is told. iOS always lets you revoke Screen Time permission in Settings → Screen Time, and Dovvi doesn't fight that. Instead, your partner's app shows a gentle “paused Dovvi” note. The lock was never the point; the honesty is. Re-enable the permission and everything resumes.

Any apps or whole categories, chosen through Apple's own picker — Dovvi never even learns their names. The free tier blocks up to 3 apps or categories, forever. Dovvi Plus removes the limit and adds scheduled block sessions, stats, and custom unlock durations.
